Are you up early with child-like wonder? Or, bark-woof-bark-bark-bark? Or simply the joy of preparing a tableau of special moments for the enjoyment of all?
Penguins! I watched a documentary about the Emperor Penguins of Antarctica several years ago. I was stunned, in part, by the creatures standing like statues through the coldest, darkest time of year.
Our dog was watching intently when the camera did a tight shot and she immediately turned her head toward the pond where she frequently sees Canada Geese. I didn’t expect her wheels to turn that way!
Are the penguins in your image part of your holiday decor? Any reindeer? A jolly old man with a sleigh? Henny with reindeer antlers?? 😬
I hope that’s Henny with the scratchnibble actions!
Yes, I felt certain that Izzie connected the penguins with the similarly-colored geese in our pond. She has demonstrated extremely quick learning of our requests to her. To any good dog trainer’s horror, I “talk” to her rather than one or two-word commands.
On our regular walk circuit, a cul-de-sac joins the main through street. I’d say, “Izzie, look for cars. Up hill; down hill.” Now, without a word from me, as we approach the stop sign, she pauses and looks first uphill then downhill. I release her with, “Okay. Go down hill.” (The way home.)
We play hide and seek on our last walk of the night, in the dark, using parked cars for our concealment. She exhibits a sense that this is pure play! We take turns, one hides and the other seeks. I could go on.
With our last dog, a friend asked, “Why do you talk to the dog so much?” I replied, “I can’t speak ‘dog’.”
Whatever you believe…
my wish is that you hold it lightly
and continue to be amazed by life’s dance.
I been dancing in my sleep and in my bed and head and just now at the beach! Thank you for your life's dance wishes! Back at you!
I've seen your dance videos Tom--joyful! Practice, practice, practice.
Happy, frosty morning Gail,

Are you suggesting Izzie associated penguins with geese?
Took the photo last year at a store. Always good to hang onto such things. Never know when they might come into play. 😁
Best wishes to you as well!

Woof!
