… promptly began drawing tulip leaves as her mind contemplated Spring’s arrival. “No, she thought. Maybe a wee bit of black to darken the green for a more authentic color!” (Note: this writer does not paint/mix colors. Also sees red and green rather poorly.)

For some in depth study of cat personalities I’d recommend Old Possum’s Book Of Practical Cats, by T.S. Elliot. Home of Winkin’, Blinkin’, and Nod.

But I digress.

You spoke recently about practice in your painting. One could paint the same cat multiple times. Another might paint multiple cats once. The former? A perfected version? The latter? Perfecting the depiction of multiple varieties and postures. Magnifico!

From Wikipedia: "each cat has three names: one common, one fancy and one that only the cat knows" from The Naming of Cats. I'm planning a trip to the library... I'll see if they have a copy of the book.

Which would you choose... working toward perfection with one cat or multiple varieties and postures? You can see what I chose... without any thought.

You can bet Tahlia is gearing up for tomorrow's opportunity. There might be tulips involved!

Variations on a theme, not repeats. No worries, mate!

I feel certain that painting all sorts of cats suits you best. Because you did! It also seems that that approach will grow your painting, and characterizations, faster. Be they cats or Muses!
