When my father helped me move into a West Allis apartment, he hauled my deceased grandmother’s horse couch in an open trailer behind his truck while I followed in my black, pin-striped, Ford Escort.
The piece took its own path, landing nowhere near where I originally intended. I’ve been involved is some discussions about the natural world and our human relationship to it. Are we taking more than we should, to satisfy our whims and desires? Me over we? We over me? How can we find balance?
Are “sides” approaching these questions with rigidity or flexibility?
Is there another way to approach our shared future?
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to say/ask that in response to you! Any thoughts are welcome!
I don’t think I had heard that story of your stiffness and pain, Gail. I wish I had your yoga teacher. I do some yoga on my own, but I need guidance. I'm flexible in some ways. Rigid in others. In more ways than one.
Sarah showed up in my life just when I was ready, and needed her wisdom most! She started practicing yoga as a child...by watching a program on PBS. :) I have learned so much from her.
Do you attend yoga classes? Rigid...awareness is our first step?
I'm sure I've already mentioned my shoulders and neck. While I still have stiffness, and one shoulder still pops, my pain is generally gone. Consistent effort, and a new supervisor at work have worked wonders. Love this piece, friend. Heading to my mat.
I try to highlight the unhighlightable all of the time! haha! So glad to hear your pain is mostly gone--mine too. It's only when I allow myself to disconnect that trouble peeks its nose around the corner. I've gotten pretty good at spotting it and shooing it away. ;)
Gail, maybe this one is your best yet!
Thanks Monty:)

Maybe by just being aware of our whims and desires vs. their desires does keep us balanced. If I could underline "Maybe" I would do that.
Fair enough....fragments....that’s what we see.
I read this from Krishnamurti today....
“Take human beings as they are, not what you think they should be.”
Wonder what would happen if we could pull that off? ;)
I just finished watching Groundhog Day with Bill Murray. Can you believe I’ve never see the film?
We are so much more powerful than we believe....
I liked Groundhog Day a lot.
Taking people for what they are...yes, otherwise I sometimes have them on pedestals where they don't belong.
I agree whole heartedly!

I don't take classes - just have a little routine I do at home. And yup - awareness is the first step!
I always try to highlight your stuff!
