BFN Friends —
Is it Friday?
Sure is!
I love this opportunity to connect with you.
Yesterday I got to attend a book event hosted by one of my mother-in-law’s friends.
(In 2017, I shared my experience of attending an Honor Flight homecoming made possible by this same friend — Chris Smith.)
The book event was inspired by Kristin Hannah’s novel The Women.
Our speaker was Ruby, an in-the-flesh veteran who completed a tour in Vietnam as an army nurse. I was fascinated to hear her stories. Can you believe she met the love-of-her-life in basic training?
As an army engineer, he was shipped out two weeks before Ruby and was able to create a possibility for her to be stationed close enough for them to see each other a couple of times per month. The pair married in Vietnam during their tours — complete with bridal attendants wearing dresses and dyed-to-match shoes ordered from the Sears catalog.
Just WOW!
One never knows for sure what they might experience when they say, “Yes. I’ll come.”
Jay Armstrong and I continue to learn together with Everyday writers and readers over on the One Line, One Love Podblog.
In this week’s episode, we juggle verbs.
This is a conversation for EVERYONE because we are all writing and reading the stories of our lives.
What verbs are you using?
Are you fighting or dancing?
Are you clinging or embracing?
We are all creative.
What are you creating?
Will you spend 15 minutes listening, thinking, and learning?
Elaine, Katie, and I continue to craft what promises to be a fun and thought-provoking opportunity to ponder The Power of Online Connectication.
Will you join us on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 2:00pm Central time?
One never knows for sure what they might experience when they say, “Yes. I’ll come.”
