In August my planters have a different look than they did in June. Violas and pansies have withered, petunias are leggy, straw flowers are abundant, and heat-loving moss roses bloom in shades of rich red, cheerful orange, and buttery yellow.
I’m reading Productive Accidents by Peter Williams.
Peter’s life is a testament to the power of community and connection….what can happen when we build bridges outside of our tired routines.
Do the seasons of our lives invite new blooms?
Sometimes I stall.
I told you about my conversation with Jack…..
and my intention to keep going, meeting, growing.
And I can’t really put my finger on why I’ve been dragging my feet….
cleaning bathrooms instead of writing
playing with Henrietta instead of leaning more about Vellum (ugh! technical work!)
I DID meet Peter Williams lovely parents via Zoom.
Tony and Elizabeth were experiencing sunrise in Australia while it was evening in my corner of the world.
Resistance is directly proportional to love. If you’re feeling massive Resistance, the good news is, it means there’s tremendous love there too. If you didn’t love the project that is terrifying you, you wouldn’t feel anything. The opposite of love isn’t hate; it’s indifference.
The more Resistance you experience, the more important your unmanifested art/project/enterprise is to you—and the more gratification you will feel when you finally do it. ~excerpt from The War of Art by Steven Pressfield
Resistance sure teaches me a lot.
Today it’s reminding me to connect with the shamrocks and moss roses….you.
Wanting the best for you
as I believe you want the best for me.
Thank you Gail, both for interviewing my parents, and for being the first person to purchase my book. The link to organic growth is a good fit — it’s how our interests, networks, connections, and collaborations evolve over time. Starting from the roots of a core idea, sprouting into insights that get reinforced by beliefs and values to form a foundation for growth and lifelong learning.
Marianne Williamson wrote: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.” If I find myself in a general state of uncertainty, taking on a new and challenging endeavor can be daunting. Does “powerful” automatically imply conquest? Domination? Winning? Might speaking from our hearts, seeking human connections, demonstrate one aspect of being powerful? Having read your posts for some time now, I sense your “connection” powers are increasing while fear/reluctance is diminishing. Yay and kudos!!
