“Terrifying, eh?” I said to Hen. “Let’s go investigate.”
A couple of weeks ago my stomping grounds got just enough wet, sticky snow for the young—and young at heart—to be called… “roll, stack, find sticks for arms and pine cones for eyes, build, build, build.”
Henny and I were walking in the park.
When she noticed new and scary, she froze in a fight or flight stance.
“C’mon…let’s go check it out,” I said.
Henny, being Henny, took the lead.
She sniffed the bottom ball, pointed her snout skyward for a second or two, and we were off and moving again.
The big, scary snowman was no threat at all.
Perception did not match reality.
An industrious twoleg built a snowman in the dog park.
It was great fun to watch dogs come in, hair up on their backs, weighing attack or flee.
I’ve found a couple of tools to help me when there are snowmen about…
From Whitman…”Be curious, not judgemental.”
From De Mello…”The feeling is in you.”
And what if the snowman starts chasing me?
Well I guess I’ll deal with that reality when it happens.

Only you, Gail, would think of that! 😉
