“She was sweating under that purple parka,” said Urania.
“Fantastic! We are on a roll (!)—and she’s trying to keep up,” replied Thalia.
“I don’t know…I felt for her…running a story for today’s letter and simultaneously shooting ideas for her Friday presentation was a bit much at once…that’s why I kept reminding her of presence…listen to the bird’s early morning spring chatter.” Calliope said while absently picking at a loose thread on her robe.
Urania blew her whistle, “Okay! Let’s get this letter out…then we can jot some notes about Friday.”
“Isn’t Sunday supposed to be a day of rest?” asked Calliope. “And…aren’t we splitting hairs? The words are synonyms…what’s the big deal?”
“Words—Are—A—Big—Deal!” Thalia laughed at her dramatic emphasis.
Urania slipped on her glasses, cleared her throat and said, “Truth is facts. Honesty is the feelings and story building—physical and emotional—that each person creates in response to those facts.”
“Okay…so let’s go back to this morning’s walk,” said Thalia. “The fact is that it was 17 degrees—the truth?”
“Yes, and she felt warm—honesty?” asked Calliope.
“Let’s say her niece from Florida was visiting—her perspective would be quite different—same truth, different honesty,” Urania added. “She’d most likely experience different feelings and create a vividly different story about the walk.”
“And…with awareness…humans can observe their feelings and emotions?” asked Calliope. “Like when I reminded her of the bird song? I think her heartbeat slowed by a chirp or two.”
Urania blew her whistle again, “Good work! Let’s start that rest. We have 15 minutes!”
Thalia and Calliope were in no mood to argue. They clinked coffee cups and went to the window to look for cardinals.
