Whisper
Fleeting thoughts of pain
Washed away by dreams so deep
Waking strength to act

Dear Abbie,
You led… I followed.
First, you invited me to participate in your campfire chats via Zoom. What a gift it was to meet women from around the world via video, sharing stories and ideas. You created a space for generous listening and open discussion. Through our participation, your invitees were gifted perspectives they certainly would not have had without your invitation.
Second, you wrote a book… a collection of your daily posts from the workshop in which we met. I thought that was super ambitious and it dazzled me until… within a short time you also wrote and published a full length novel! It was with deep admiration and recognition of your example that I finally took the idea of publishing a book myself seriously.

You showed me something was possible. Thank you.
And third — most important, you join me weekly in lively group conversations through which I learn so much. Your insights engage, embolden, and empower me to see and feel life through your eyes. How cool is that? What greater gift can we give each other?
I love watching you learn and grow in your efforts to magnify the light in your fellow service leavers. Who knew I’d ever have a friendship with a graduate from the Royal Navy? Thank you for your service… active and active beyond the uniform.
You make me want to be a better person.
Gratitude and Love,
Gail
