Henrietta stood, stretched, and hopped off the bed.
A first.
After a very late night, and an early morning disruption, I broke our rule.
At 4:30 a.m. I slid gate through staircase railing, allowing four legs to pass and climb.
Her settling process involved lots of nibbling on the quilt and her body parts, but settle she did.
At 6:27, without even a good morning nuzzle, she was up and ready.
This dog need some serious feel good training.
Don’t you think? :)
Anyhow….
She woke me from a dream.
The kind of dream where if it’s truncated—you long for the punchline.
Now in consciousness, I’m challenged to create an ending.
I want the movie version!
Created without thought…..
Like the film I watched, before tossing and turning, tossing and turning.
At 9:30 p.m., while inserting buds into my ears I said, “This movie’s two and a half hours…I’ll never make it through. Will you take my phone downstairs after I fall asleep. (a husbandly service he throws in without fee) Netflix tells me that The Pianist and I are a 95% match. Google and Netflix know me better than I know myself.”
Engaged from opening scene to roll of credits, I could not find sleep after.
I’ve read and watched much about The Holocaust and WWII.
Schindler’s List, Sarah’s Key, The Book Thief, Band of Brothers, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society, JoJo Rabbit, Saving Private Ryan
Historical fiction….
Fragments pieced into story.
And I try to understand
fear
and those who rise above
choosing its opposite….
love.

While I will second Jim's recommendation of Life is Beautiful, have a box of tissues next to you. Any parent's heart will break on watching this.
Gail - great list of films and television series. I’ve seen all but Sarah’s Key and TGLPPS. Sarah’s Key was on my list at some point but I forgot over time. I’ll have to search those up. If you haven’t seen the Italian film, Life is Beautiful you must see it. Enjoying the BFN comeback!
