I hoped nobody was watching….
I snatched one stuffed hedgehog after another from their mesh metal bins and arranged them on the aisle’s floor. My loaded grocery cart needed a box or bag of treats for Henrietta, and on my way to the beef flavored rawhide sticks I was distracted by plush cuties.
Rarely do I ignore a call from the great beyond these days.
An invisible energy field pulled me into hedgehog photography.
You see, I volunteered to take on a leadership role in The Creative’s Workshop.
Our group name is….wait for it….Hedgehog!
This morning we had our first Zoom meeting.
In an opening message I shared…
Hedgehogs are all the rage these days! and posted a photo of my spontaneous grocery store find.
Why am I telling you this?
Some of the most important discoveries in my life have come from out of the blue.
I can’t tell you how many library books have chosen me!
One such book was Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl.
Years ago, I jotted notes from Frankl’s prose.
Mostly, I absorbed what spoke loudest from the concentration camp survivor’s story.
Of course I can’t remember everything!
Yesterday, I had occasion to pull the faded pages from my navy folder to refresh myself.
You might find this interesting?
Frankl proposed that we discover the meaning of life in three different ways:
1. Creating a work or doing a deed.
2. Experiencing something or encountering someone.
3. By the attitude we take to unavoidable suffering—turning tragedy to triumph.
Do any—or all three—speak to you?
No. 3 is speaking to me during this time of Lent. We give up things to share in suffering.
Adorable! Enjoy your leadership role - what will you be doing, other than playing with stuffed animals? I have what I call "parking lot prophecies," partly because some of the biggies happened in ... parking lots. And author Brene Brown, who I love, found me, too, looking at a library shelf where her book sat.
