“Learning number one.” Urania looked down at her list. “Henny works Typist like a frozen slab with a sharp chainsaw in a January ice sculpting competition. She didn’t get the kid up before 7:00 am once while we were gone!”
“Did you ever consider that Henny might be getting us up out of generosity? Maybe she knows how much we enjoy our peaceful morning walks?” asked Calliope.
Urania squinted across the table. “Number two. When surrounded by people who don’t eat dessert, Typist can go four entire days without cookies, pie, cake, chocolate, and ice cream.”
“We had yogurt!” Thalia exclaimed.
“Doesn't count,” Urania muttered.
“Oh! But breaking our unintented sugar fast with that vanilla peach milkshake at lunch yesterday is something we’ll never forget. Creamy and dreamy with real chunks of peach,” Calliope sighed. “I think we should cut back on our desserts. We’ll appreciate them more.”
Urania scowled across the table.
“What’s the teaser?” asked Thalia.
“We’re going to have to write a story that starts with a salad, of course. If we put it in book number three, maybe the cute little distillery in Franklin Tennessee will put a stack of our books next to their sign. Hemingway the cat can lead customers right to it.”
At first it seemed that a whiskey tasting had been part of your itinerary. Reflecting, it may have been a whiskey looking!
Seeing the “Leiper’s Fork” label made me wonder if whiskey production has seen a trend similar to craft beer’s role in brewing? (Albeit very different time frames) Did you see/visit other small distilleries? Did any of the muses have a wee sip?
I can only imagine…. Happy looking!
