hungry
after 4 mile trek
through kettles
scanned
pantry shelves
in search of healthy
two glops
coconut oil
kernels
tink-tink-tinkled
into pot
mini-explosions
pop! pop! pop!
Voila!
(or…viola! if you prefer)
:)
Our conversation centered on self-care. Mostly we agreed that taking care of our minds and bodies involves attention to diet, exercise, and sleep.
Two among us raised questions I’ve been noodling.
Their time on earth, longer than my own, makes me grateful for their perspectives.
The questions are…
Is self-care a modern concept?
What is the difference between self-care and self-indulgence?
Tap-tap-tap!!!
As I took my first bites of warm and salty, the popcorn loving muses wanted my attention.
Sure, go ahead…have some, I said.
No! No, you silly woman….well, actually yes, we’d love some.
And while they munched they pointed out the connection between our snack and my morning conversation where somebody shared this story…
A farmer, noticing the price of popcorn, decided to plant his entire acreage in corn pop crops.
The trouble was, other farmers also noticed the “popcorn trending” trend.
They planted popcorn crops, too.
The following year it was popcorn for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Do you see? the muses asked…Where attention goes, energy flows.
Yes, yes…I see. You know it’s impolite to talk with your mouth full, right?
I was a viola player earlier in my life :-)
