Somebody thought they were pretty...
Dense blooms dot the trail side, shining like the sun on a cloudless day.
“Where did I hear that,” he said not expecting an answer. “Maybe you told me?”
“Told you what?”
“Dandelions were brought over from Europe…somebody thought they were pretty.”
“I think they’re pretty. Look at them growing with the other wild flowers—I like them best when they’ve gone to seed and their downy heads are covered with dew.”
“I’m glad we were able to get the lawn aerated in between the rain showers this weekend. When is the service coming to fertilize and spray weeds?”
“Monday, if it doesn’t rain. Imagine… what if dandelions became fashionable, it could revolutionize a whole industry.”
“Not going to happen.”
“I know, but isn’t it interesting that somebody once loved dandelions enough to carry them across the ocean, and now suburbanites hire services to kill them?”
Do you think dandelions are pretty? Or, are they a nuisance?
My answer is yes to both. :)
