Love is…
a boy, a dog, rabbit, and hedgie resting after wrestling
snow pants, boots, parka, collar, leash, and six legs under the full moon
a man in a suit driving thousands of miles per month to earn dog food money
a phone call with a listening ear
a smile shared
love is giving
and it’s not always easy
but it is simple
Last night before turning in I read a fistful of tiny love stories.
The collection of true tales of love in 100 words or less is ideal dream fodder.
“Just right,”…as Goldilocks’ said.
And…what is just right?
I read a story about that last night...
A woman got divorced. Her mother came to help out for a bit…filled with judgement of her daughter’s failed marriage. She spent most of her visit outside planting perennials, trimming bushes, and mulching. The daughter thought her mother might have been saying, “These will return in spite of you!”
Changing her glasses, she wondered if her mother was saying, “Here, this will be easier.”
Does just right show up in how we choose to see the world?
Thank you Karen DeBonis for gifting me tiny love stories. Is there any greater joy than pulling a surprise package from one’s mailbox? What a delight to see your name and read your story on page 122.
Oh yeah - I forgot about the frosting!
Did I tell you that was my favorite? LOL. It's an image I can't get out of my mind, in a good way.
