“Oh boy… now what?” asked the muse of many questions.
“What… what? asked Urania.
“Well… I feel like… like… ,” Calliope looked up her sleeve, hoping to find a metaphor.
“Like a cat who swallowed a canary?” asked Thalia.
“Like a mother hiding Christmas presents in November?” asked Urania.
“I’ve got it!” said Calliope. “I feel like the Easter Bunny with a U-Haul full of Easter baskets on Good Friday.”
Cal’s grin lit up the dark studio — like the Cheshire Cat.
“And… exactly why do you feel like the Easter Bunny with a U-Haul full of Easter baskets on Good Friday?” asked Urania.
“I don’t like holding back — and… waiting — if I’ve got colorful eggs, I want to share them,” Calliope replied. “And I have a great story idea, but we have to save it for the book.”
Like a kite whose wind died, Cal’s face fell.
“How about this?” lilted Thalia. “We start showing our work here on BFN… and save the egg-y stories for the book?”
“For example… we can share that Meandering Muses will be structured similar to Wandering Words… and that the muses — uh, I mean we — will be meandering through feelings and emotions — A Walk from Awe to Zany — or something like that?” added Urania.
“Let’s tell the readers we are open to their thoughts and ideas in comments!” Cal perked like the morning coffee pot. “And then — saving our stories will feel as delicious as malted-milk, pastel-speckled eggs.”
“Can we tell them about the phone call… and the Medium article?” asked Thalia.
“Of course!” said Urania. “We shared a story of gratitude over on Medium yesterday… without that space and community… we might not exist.”
“And a friend who we have not talked to in a really long time saw Henny’s Instagram post… that dog… showing off because she made the cover of Wandering Words… attention hound,” said Calliope.
“Our friend immediately downloaded and started reading our book… then called and shared many, many nice thoughts,” said Tal. “The generosity took our breath away.”
“We breathe?” asked Calliope. “I hadn’t noticed.”
“Ugh! We’re rambling now,” said Urania. “Let’s call it a wrap… and work on dying those eggs.”
A lot of people are so used to just seeing the outcome of work. They never see the side of the work you go through to produce the outcome. ~Michael Jackson
The wheels (the brainy ones) are turning... the eggs are dying. I just want to say I’m happy for the positive responses your book has already brought. There will be more... positive responses and books, too!
