Sunday short on words
short on sleep; short of muses
Can I still be sweet?
While standing in a grocery checkout line this week, I read impactful words from a dying mother to her young daughters. I encourage you to read Julie Yip-Williams’ letter here.
I’ve no doubt Julie inspired the muses to toss around the idea of bitter-sweet grapefruit yesterday.
This excerpt continues to mix with all my circling thoughts:
Many may disagree, but I have always believed, always, even when I was a precocious little girl crying alone in my bed, that our purpose in this life is to experience everything we possibly can, to understand as much of the human condition as we can squeeze into one lifetime, however long or short that may be. We are here to feel the complex range of emotions that come with being human. And from those experiences, our souls expand and grow and learn and change, and we understand a little more about what it really means to be human. I call it the evolution of the soul.
Is it true that 80% of success is showing up?
What might our lives be like if we lived them at 99%—embracing the bitter with the sweet?
Folks are usually about as happy as they make their minds up to be.

Gail, you had me at shortcake. :) I couldn't read that letter as my tolerance for sadness is running short these days, but the excerpt was interesting. I was just thinking yesterday about "negative" emotions like envy and hate. I believe to allow them and feel them is to be fully human, and they should not be denied. It's what we do with those feelings, and whether we allow them to take us over, that matters.
Moved to not scatter words about.
Moved by all you offered.
