Swim your own current
When I mentioned my kid might come home from college this weekend she said, “I’ve heard that first year college students shouldn’t go home at all during the first month.”
“Yeah, I’ve heard that, too,” I replied.
A subjective story?
Later today I’ll hug my son. He’ll eat a home cooked meal and drift off to sleep listening to crickets instead of voices outside his window.
Is this harmful?
No! I reject the shouldn’t story.
On Sunday the black truck will hit the highway for its return trip with a well rested and well fed kid behind the wheel. The student will haul his overnight bag back up to the second floor of his dorm, sleep in his other bed—a twin XL, and head off to class on Monday morning.
No harm.
Just a different story.
