Hi,
It’s just me and Henny here now at Born Free Newsletter.
With the recent publication of Flourishing Fictions, and moving the muses into their new home… It’s been busy!
Purpose-filled, forward-movement busy.
Henrietta is less than enthusiastic about my time at the table, but I must say she exhibits extreme patience in between our play dates. 💜
This moment is shaping up to be one of the most exciting times in memory for me, the laptop, a handful of artist pencils, and my watercolors.
I’m just going to say… what I’m doing, and how I’m going to accomplish it are shrouded in mist, mystery, and intrigue.
I’m feeling kind of solid on the where, when and why though… Solid like a birthday helium balloon tied to a light pole… shifting, catching, and flowing with the wind? Is it possible to be tethered and free? Does the metaphor work? Hmmm…
The where I want to spend my time includes 3musesmerge, creating awareness of Wandering Words/Meandering Muses/Flourishing Fictions, conversations with people who fuel my growth, practicing graphic art, and exploring the possibilities around writing/illustrating for children.
The when is now… because the present is all that’s within our grasp.
My why? I just want to make lives better — mine along with everyone I touch. As we’ve explored many times together… we touch everyone… either directly or indirectly.
Anyhow, all of that leads to some thoughts about tidying up:
1.) For now I plan to keep BFN in the mix, but I have no idea how much action it will see. I suspect it might slowly fall by the wayside as I grow in new directions. It’s okay to outgrow things, isn’t it? Doesn’t mean you don’t still love them, just means it’s time to move from Kindergarten to first grade. ;)
2.) Over at 3mm, the muses are taking it slow and might be repeat a lot of things you’ve already learned about them. They want to make their space inviting — a welcome place for new friends. Introductions seem like a mighty fine place to start.
3.) Gratitude! I am so grateful for friends silver and gold, new and old. Your generous comments about newsletter fatigue, and the need for the muses to introduce themselves properly in their new home are helpful to fulfilling my why… I want to serve, not push or overwhelm.
Okay, Henny is boo-hoo-ing and this is long enough.
See you around.

🤔😱😄 (I lost all my lower teeth in the last emoji!). Love your sense of humor.
Great elucidation of this present moment! I was thinking that “all these changes” might make for a couple scrambled moments sifting the changes.
Your explanation of the process was very helpful. As I thought a little deeper than my hair roots I realized that your creative magic is still very much intact. You’re just starting first grade! I’m certain you are familiar with Robert Fulghum’s book, All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten. So is entering first grade possibly seeking out and learning other skills to support your creative processes?
I’m excited for you. Our schools didn’t have kindergarten… Perhaps I can repeat that grade? 🤷🏽
