“I want to quit!” Thalia threw her paintbrush across the studio. “We’re terrible. Our paintings look nothing like the ones we copied from the videos. We should just stick to writing.”
Urania sighed. “True that… We’re beginners… beginners who contain multitudes. Let’s not smash our eggs before they’ve had time to hatch.”
“We tried… and that’s what matters. Do you really want to feel grumpy about trying something?” asked Calliope. “I’m glad I found a piece of black paper… doesn’t the gel pen pop—poppoppop?”
Have you heard the hoopla about choosing a word?
Instead of setting goals or making resolutions?
I did it once — in 2020. The word was COURAGE and it served me well.
For 2022, my word is LIVE — rhymes with give.
In Flourishing Fictions, each chapter begins with a photo and a six-word-sentence or haiku written by a collaborator.
One chapter begins with… “Let go of arbitrary worries… live!”
I like the sound of that.
What’s your word?
"connection"
I don't have a word but I do have a quote that I just read and like. "Francis X. Maier: Try to assume the best in others. Critique issues and behaviors, not persons. The spoken word can usually be ignored or forgotten. The written word is forever."
