“The tin! It’s empty!” wailed Thalia. “All… of… the… Christmas…treats… are… GONE!”
“That’s a GOOD thing!” Typist called from the kitchen.
“What are are we going to do now? What will we have with our coffee?” asked Calliope.
“Simple,” said Urania as she pulled brushes from the shelf. “We’ll paint ice cream cones!”
“Readers… Drop us a comment. Which would you order?”

P.S. Substack is helping me to sort out my confusion with a 3musesmerge newsletter. I’m going to try something different today. Stay tuned.
On the basis of taste the Mocha Chip and Espresso wins hands down. On the basis of visual appeal, the BlackBerry and Dreamsicle takes the cake!
Now and then I check my ramblings before tapping “Post.” As I did just now. What I didn’t expect to find is that “takes the cake (or biscuits)” dates back to the days of slaves on American plantations. The slaves would hold a competition - a cakewalk - that involved strutting and other components to mock their owners’ mannerisms. The winner, of course, “took the cake.”
So now I’m reluctant to re-characterize my choice for visual appeal. Cat’s pajamas, or meow, as you prefer.
My editorial comments aside, I’m tickled by your painterly progress! Unflinchingly trying new subject matter and techniques. I predict that it will be a while before you move on to Action Painting, a la Jackson Pollock. Unless you are so moved by The Muses…. Or dropping a bucket of paint when you repaint a wall or two of your studio?
