Dear GJ,
As I nibbled a piece of breakfast-buttered-toast, I stood and looked through the same glass that puppy Henrietta peers through in the picture above. If you look closely, you will see two deer and a wing-beating chickadee in the shot.
This morning I saw gray and red squirrels frolicking, playing, and chasing one another. One gray carried a black walnut in its jaws. Heaven knows God provides enough walnuts, apples, and seeds to support abundant wildlife to delight me, if only I pause and observe, which I do often.
Despite summer weeds, thorn-covered blackberry canes, rotting deck boards, and mice seeking shelter in our basement, I always make a point to remember how appreciative I am for this home we created together. Inside and outside of its walls, I have been gifted so much opportunity to observe, learn, and grow.
Thank you for shipping a sharing of yourself as a contribution to Flourishing Fictions. We have created, embraced, and nurtured so many projects together over the last four decades. The one that has taught me the most, and brought us so much joy, is most likely sitting on ice right now, waiting for a bite.
I am filled with gratitude for the space you have given me to explore my interests, and to pursue my dreams. Typing that actually brought tears to my eyes… thank you.
You make me want to be a better person,
Love and Gratitude,
Gail
Curiosity is a Superpower! So is wonder! And creativity and imagiNATION, forget about it…The world could easily be a very different place by simply embracing the words of Whitman…
“Be curious, not judgmental.” 🤔
What a beautiful tribute to commitment, tolerance of and love for each other’s differences. While high dollar divorce settlements (and battles - Bill and Melinda French Gates comes to mind) make splashy headlines, is there even an audience for relationships that stand the test of time? Or even a medium that would offer that sort of content?
With a bit of Archie Bunker vernacular, congratulations to “the both of you.”
