“So… Hawaii three days ago, Amsterdam tomorrow?” Calliope mused. “And home planting and watering bushes in between.”
“Sounds glamorous!” Thalia twirled and her flowered skirt swirled about her.
Urania looked up from her copy of The Future Will Not Wear Underwear. “Sounds exhausting… if you ask me. Didn't he say something like it’s his job to hang out in the cockpit while the electronics fly the plane? He’s like an insurance policy.” The Muse of Determination smiled at her analogy.
“One man’s tri-berry trifle with fresh cream is another’s pickle juice?” asked the Muse of Many Questions.
“Something like that… with lots of flavors in between.” Urania took off her reading glasses and set them on the table. “This author… he writes satire. He says, With humor, you can tell the truth. He admits to stealing that phrase — the sign of a good artist — steal and make it your own. Does everything new under the sun come from combinations of what already exists?”
“Magical math!” said Thalia.
Calliope nodded and remembered that every human is born with a gift… a gift of choice.
Your Muse of Wit's "magical math" comment reminds me of a Spanish proverb: "More grows in the garden than the gardener knows he planted."
Just wondering: How long have you known this grasshopperish petunia inspector? These days I have an album on my phone dedicated to local insects, inspired no doubt by my longing as a wee child to hold honeybees in my hand!
As you often do, today’s BFN contents triggered my “search mode.” The first definition of trifle meant “of little importance.” What?! Tri-berries and fresh cream and “lacking importance” induced cerebellar whiplash!
The second definition, of an English dessert, much better matched my inklings. As I read on, another dessert name appeared: “Syllabub.” A whipped cream dessert flavored with Sherry or white wine. I knew it was time to move on.
Last, on the notion of “choice,” like the span between trifles and pickle juice, I revel in the choice to read the current “Born Free Newsletter.”
Even over the Google searches that result… 😁
