“Why is Calliope muttering and punching that pillow?” Urania whispered.
“I can’t say for certain, but I did pick up on a few key phrases—inside-out sock was a better idea, too much information to work with, the donuts are gone,” Thalia whispered back.
“I’m still trying to make sense of that dream,” Urania said. “I mean…we were at the dog park that turned into a backyard mansion, where the bathroom had a bidet? Thalia, we’ve never even seen a real bidet.”
“We’re always picking up information Urania, even if were consciously unaware…like putting giraffe legs in yesterday’s story after Bob talked about giraffes being tall animals. Watch this,” Thalia whispered.
“Hey…Calliope? I think the bakery photo might just inspire her to bake that pistachio inside-outside cake you like so much…what do you think about that?”
Calliope looked up from the Henny hair covered pillow. “Cake?…with green pudding in the middle?”
“A lot of memories, right?” asked Thalia with a twinkle in her eye. “She’d bought all the ingredients to make the cake for the office Christmas party and then…the kid decided to make its appearance in the world. No party, no cake…just hard labor.”
“Well, yes and…now I see the brilliance behind the bakery photo. Inside-outside cake is connected to the Anil Seth video about consciousness we watched. What if humans misunderstand their experience? Is life really lived from the inside-out instead of the outside-in?” Calliope replied.
“Hand me that pillow Calliope,” Urania piped up… “my head is beginning to throb.”
U R on-a-roll! Well, that’s my hallucination of what you and the muse trio are up to! Seriously, akin to the notion of peeling an onion representing deeper layers of thought, today’s work can be experienced at several layers of the onion.
I nearly jettisoned Anil Seth’s talk when I heard his remark about breakfast being a terrible idea! Resisting that impulse, I very much appreciated his TED Talk. One could focus on his speaking characteristics. Or these emerging ideas about our consciousness. Yet still one’s own thinking/consciousness in response to his talk.
Are the muses possibly an “inside out” hallucination, a la Anil’s framework? And with sufficient energy/consensus that your readers experience them and have no trouble integrating them into the overall flow??
In summary, one can see the creativity and crafting in your BFNs and the impact on your readers. I just continue to be amazed.
I sense a book in your writing Gail! Happy New Year!
