"The skill I’m working on is consciously calling, “Stop!!!! Put the pen down!”
So that I can see
the beautiful grasshopper
in front of me."
Now I'm working on that skill too . . . in my own unique way . . . "Tom! Notice when your mind, your thinking mind, is going faster than your seeing, experiencing, awareness system." Thanks for the reminder to keep improving my skill at continuously seeing.
Your response has me looking at my mind function. Do you see our thoughts (thinking) as unconsciously arising ummmmm..... things? What I sometimes call monkey mind? Is there a different kind of “conscious thinking” when one is connecting sights, experiences and awarenesses in a deliberate way?
Thank you Tom for reading and adding to the discussion. Much appreciated!

Thanks for your questions back. I'm percolating on how to respond, 'cause it's complicated. One part of the answer from my experience is this animation from Iain McGilchrist's Tedtalk The Divided Brain https://www.ted.com/talks/iain_mcgilchrist_the_divided_brain?utm_campaign=tedspread&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=tedcomshare
I'm committing to keep The Skill of Seeing high on my learning goals priorities for the next two weeks. Thanks for being on my learning team!
Thanks for the link!! I think I’ll have to watch more than once. Yes...thanks for being on my learning team!:)
