Wilbur crouched low, with his thin, curly tail toward the rat. Templeton seized the string, passed it around the end of the pig’s tail, and tied two half hitches. Charlotte watched in delight. Like Fern, she was truly fond of Wilbur, whose smelly pen and stale food attracted the flies that she needed, and she was proud to see that he was not a quitter and was willing to try again to spin a web.

I’m often searching for hidden meaning carefully placed in the pictures and words. The last sentence, containing
“ he was not a quitter and was willing to try again “ led me to the two sketch cards. Was there a first attempt at Templeton that didn’t suit painter/typist?
Or more broadly is that a comment on both your painting and writing in general? Your version of “Tub Thumping?” (I get knocked down, but I get up again, you are never gonna keep me down.) At least from this reader’s view, your approach to writing and painting and living out loud exemplifies that lyric.
Happy Monday!
