You have to take the good with the bad. ~Major Sitnick
“Where did Spring go?” asked the muse of many questions.
“Right?” seconded Thalia. “Outside is like a walk-in beer cooler — with an air conditioning fan on full blast — whipping our flowing hair every which way.”
“In January we would have thought a morn like this felt like spring,” Urania rolled her eyes. “Perspective — makes all the difference.”
“Quite a sunrise?” asked Calliope.
“Yes… and even though laundry is on our list today… we also get to go grocery shopping… and we can start painting the solid-wood, unloved-and-discarded table we found at the re-sale shop… for the new studio,” said Urania.
“We do enjoy saving and refurbishing, don’t we?” asked Calliope.
“And we are so grateful for the household handyhusband who installed a new floor over the weekend,” said Urania.
“Like a Timex — takes a licking’ and keeps on tickin’,” Thalia said. “Boat carpeting and studio flooring in one weekend.”
“Where is today’s quote from?” asked Urania.
“Meditations from the Mat — one of our favorites,” said Calliope. Rolf Gates recounts a memory of a conversation with his commanding officer, Major Sitnick, who was warning him that their unit was heading into harm’s way.”
“Gates goes on to say…
I knew he was not being glib or cavalier; he had been in combat already and harbored no illusions. He was a kind man and he was helping me to understand the nature of adult life. We set upon a course, and then we must be prepared to take the good with the bad. It is through acceptance of difficulty that we gain mastery.”
“So… we need to reach out to Amazon today to see why the book updates are not loading, eh?” asked Calliope.
“The good with the bad… when we embrace it all as an opportunity to learn… it’s all good,” said Thalia.
“Red sky in the morning
Sailors’ warning
Red sky at night
Sailors’ delight”
Actually a beautiful sunrise, old sayings notwithstanding...
The contradictory saying goes:
“Evening red morning gray
Sends a traveler on his way
Evening gray morning red
Pours down rain upon his head”
Such ambiguity probably accounts, in part, for the compact, collapsible umbrella. Just in case... the good with the bad.
The colorblind man asks, “What color did you choose for the table?”
New floor and repurposed table? Is this for your studio, Gail?
