“Better,” said Thalia. “Less like a guinea pig with big ears and more like a rabbit.”
“What’s with the flowering twig?” asked the Muse of Many Questions.
“Typist is practicing some new technique she saw on a video. Learning feels good.” Urania carefully made a note on her spiral bound pad.
“What I want to know is… Can’t we just watch a show for entertainment anymore? We’re always looking for the lessons now.” Thalia shrugged. “Sometimes a muse just wants to have fun.”
“Are you talking about Ted Lasso or Yellowstone?” Urania leafed through her television show notes.
“Yellowstone,” said Tal. “In the episode Typist watched last night, one character was doing her best to get another all riled up into an emotional frenzy. The witchy-woman then explained to another character that when you tap into someone’s feelings you can more easily disrupt their thinking. The character’s own father said she was skilled at being evil.”
“So… What’s the lesson?” asked Cal.
“Be mindful of your feelings.” Urania ran her index finger along her neatly printed script. “And remember that you do not have to act on them. Also… Be mindful of the feelings you might be creating in others… The road runs both ways. What’s that phrase from Nelson Mandela?”
Thalia replied, “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart.”
I absolutely LOVE this! As you well know, I am on my own learning and drawing ✍🏼 adventure. Is it possible the key to learning something NEW is the willingness to first say yes? Yesterday I drew Jeff & Pam. I had never drawn them before…
Could learning to draw be as easy as a commitment to learn?
Based on the TEDx I watched and my own personal experience, I BELIEVE the answer is a resounding YES!
