“Mmmmm… divine,” she often said at the rectangular break room table while eating her leftovers. Munching a dessert sandwich (aka: PBJ) or leftovers from my own kitchen, I’d join in the gentle teasing of a woman who took so much pleasure in her food.
Here’s the thing… If I’d been a little wiser, instead of poking fun, I’d have noticed her attitude of gratitude and appreciation of the present moment.
Fast forward thirty years…
The fog captivated me with its sense of mystery. Next, dew covered spiderwebs stopped me in my tracks. Watching Henny zoom into and out of cattails dripping muck enhanced water drops delivered a feeling of lightness.
Perhaps your experience of the same walk would have been filled with different observations and feelings?
While meandering along the dike, trumpeting Sandhills flew above us making full use of their voices. I thought of a woman I met at the dog park recently who said she found Sandhill calls eerie and pre-historic sounding. Huh.

What a nice read! The droplets on the spider web reminded me of a friend from long ago who formed a church. "The Ministry of the Bejeweled Net" In her case, she was referring to the night sky and stars. The Sandhill Cranes always remind me of the period during my wife's treatment for breast cancer. Many round trips to Tampa from Tallahassee in late fall and winter afforded good views of these creatures. Perhaps the calls on your walk today were, "See you next Spring!" A hopeful outlook?
Driving through hilly countryside, just starting to turn color, making remarks to and listening to comments from my best friend… life is good!
