variety
spice of life
joie de vivre
no…I don’t speak French
I DID visit Paris as a young teen
Can you believe my big memory of the visit is a peach dress purchased from a sidewalk rack?
the folly of youth
didn’t even see the Eiffel Tower up close
the pictured hat
covered my ears as I waited in line outside the United States Capitol building
on a cold and wet January day
my father and sister called me Julia
throughout this one of a kind father/daughter trip
because Julia Roberts wore a similar hat in a film at the time
leaving my three year old home with dad and daytime caregivers
I was uneasy for four days and three nights
unnecessary worry sacrificing the present
tattered mittens
were a Christmas gift from my mother-in-law
together, mittens and I have walked countless miles
fourlegs…perhaps Mara’s entire lifespan?
trot in tandem with two
Henny’s exuberant youth (and teeth) led to fraying Velcro
and yet
still quite functional
mittens
are a daily fixture
when weather requires
soon…
I’ll lace shoes
zip winter jacket
pull hat on head
don flip-top mittens
walk with Jack and Ingrid
when your heart is warm
no matter where you are
you live in paradise
I hope that it is still a little warm up there in the frozen tundra. Iowa had snow yesterday!
From my very own warm heart, appreciation and grins for this lovely piece of the beloved, ragged, and warm....
