I can so relate to this. My 98-y-o father also jokes constantly with the staff at the aged care facility where he now lives. And the staff jokes back – when I take him out for lunch, say, one of the staff will ask if I can keep him out for a few days, "Give us all a break".
Hi Daan! Thanks for trying out the new comment feature. :) Is your dad near? Do you see him often? My father lives about 2 1/2 hours drive, but we meet about half way for lunch. I’m thankful he is still quite independent!
Gail, cute story! I love that line, “I don’t work those days!” Your dad sounds like a lot of fun. Did he ever take his drive out west? I remember you were concerned about that. Had to check out this comment function to make sure it’s enabled properly.
Thank you for making the first comment Jim! It worked and I received an email notification.
Yes! The pair drove to Colorado and back safely with stops at the Badlands and Mt. Rushmore. They just took their time. :) Jean's children were so thankful that my dad took Jean to see her son.
I got the alert along with the other comments on the thread. I’m pretty sure the “mute” button is designed to disable seeing everything that comes through. Also, I wasn’t able to post until I included a photo. So it’s not me in that image, but our puppy, Emmett.
Interesting....that you are required to post a photo. Emmett looks pretty cozy. Henri just had a bath. She hated every minute of it. hahahaha! And, I got almost as wet as she did.
My quick answer is that I see an opportunity to “mute thread” in my email notification. I will still go to Substack’s web page to see what I can learn.

Yes, I'm receiving them too!
How do you feel about that? If you don’t like it...maybe there is a way to turn off notifications? I’ll see what I can find out...
It's no problem but I was surprised to see Jim's comment. Maybe it's because I "liked" your article?

Ok I'm sure you'll work it out.😊
