“What do you think?” asked Typist, who was not only tasked with the keyboard — she also (wo)manned the camera.
“I think… ,” Urania looked up from her Kindle, “… that you should learn how to sketch. An actual pencil drawing would look better.”
“Seriously?” asked Typist.
Thalia and Calliope’s laughter could be heard from the flower bed. This had the potential to be good.
“It says here in Opposable Mind that… ummm… Evolution provided human beings with a valuable potential advantage. But that potential would have gone to waste if our species had not exploited it by using it in ever more sophisticated ways. When we set out to learn to write or to sew, paint, or golf, we practice using our opposable thumbs, training both the key muscles involved and the brain that controls them. Without exploring the possibilities of opposition, we wouldn’t have developed either its physical properties or the cognition that accompanies and animates it… There is possibility in developing your thumb dexterity.”
“Okay… but I’ll be expecting a raise.”
“Her raise will come when she starts selling some books,” Thalia whispered to Calliope before heading to the front flower bed with a loppers. The spent iris stems needed trimming.
"I'm shocked!", commented reader. Corn shocks and such.
In your circles, Creatives and the like, is it possible to find a sketch artist, who would like some exposure and could illustrate for your book? To humor Urania... Perhaps that could enhance "first glance" reactions to the upcoming book? Sales?
Then there are opposable thumbs and forefingers... I wonder if the muses are worth their keep!
