“Is the bug the culprit?” asked the Muse of Many Questions.
“Don’t know.” Thalia shrugged.
“Requires more investigation.” Urania peered at the striped sixleg through her readers. “Bugs do have six legs… and two antennae… yes?”
“Yes… hexapods,” said Thalia.
“Is there a point today’s letter?” asked Calliope.
“No,” Urania replied.
“Eighty percent of success is showing up — Woody Allen,” said Thalia.
And with that, the trio scattered.
Any letter that leads with basil is always worth it. (Just sayin’.)

I thought basil was similar to marigolds in that the inherent chemistry of the plant was a deterrent to bugs.
Looking again at your image, the bites are mostly all uniform in size and shape. I think the bug has a mini ice cream scoop…
