adoption day
“Has it been two years already?” asked Calliope.
“Already?” Urania raised her eyebrows. “They might have been the longest two years of the century.”
“Oh, c’mon! We love Henny’s big personality and antics. Who cares if we’re missing out on a little sleep — and have the occasional heart-thumping runaway chase. Typist has plenty of blood. A few drops shed here or there won’t be missed. The joy and growth Henrietta brings far outweighs the challenges.” Thalia looked at the side of the coin that read GRATEFUL.
“Sure.” Urania picked up James Herriot’s All Creatures Great and Small. Sharing life with animals does add feeling… along with meows, woofs, and moos.
“Which one in the photo is Henny?” asked Cal.
“I’m not sure. All three of the twolegs decided on the same sister that day though.” Urania looked up from a story about ole Herriot delivering lambs on the windswept moors. Herriot’s writing made her feel as if she was standing alongside the country veterinarian. “If I remember correctly… all three of us chose her, too.”
“Henny gets ice cream today!”
